CodeIT and GS1 Norway

CodeIT contributes to mission-critical traceability.

GS1 Norway has published a partner portrait. This is our translation of what they have to say:

Meet one of our partners: Code IT

Through interaction with customers' other systems and 24/7 support availability, CodeIT contributes to mission-critical traceability.

CodeIT is a service company specializing in traceability and labeling. The company's vision is to be leading consulting engineers in this field in the Nordic region and have a visible and well-known position in Europe. Since its start in 2011, they have grown to over 50 employees at home and abroad with a turnover of more than NOK 100 million. Their domain is the production environment within the fish, food, lumber, and industry sectors.

Partner Manager in GS1 Norway, Dagfinn Melberg, points out that the partnership agreement with CodeIT has lasted a long time and contributed to mutually positive opportunities.

- CodeIT and GS1 Norway have for many years collaborated closely on digitalization, automation, and traceability. CodeIT puts GS1 standards into practice and contributes to communication around opportunities and expanded use in many sectors, he elaborates.

Sales Manager at CodeIT Norway, Thomas Anfinnes, explains that their most important competitive advantage is based on their domain knowledge.

- Domain knowledge of the customer's processes, our experience and contact with leading technology suppliers, and a combination of a young enterprising team, experienced resources at all levels, high availability, and a flexible toolbox of software – are our most important competitive advantages.

He elaborates that where others must protect "their" technology and delivery of "their" equipment, at CodeIT the core mission is to deliver a complex service that is hardware brand-independent and utilizes existing hardware, and that can easily be cost-effectively supplemented with any brand and allows interaction with the customer’s other systems.

Giving salmon slaughterhouses room for maneuver

The salmon slaughterhouse operations in Norway have developed rapidly in both technology and capacity. At the same time, over the course of 30 years, the number of slaughterhouses has been reduced from 250 to 45. The industry has made a solid consolidation into fewer plants with a significantly higher degree of automation. The average harvest quantity has increased from 12,500 metric tons in 2007 to 34,400 in 2021. Here, CodeIT has created a solution for labeling and traceability that simultaneously handles smart palletizing and production flow, which in turn provides ways of handling increased volume throughout the value chain. The industry has embraced that CodeIT delivers this capability irrespective of process and equipment suppliers. This provides room for maneuvering that is highly appreciated.

Anfinnes points out that an item that lacks traceability or correct labeling has a lower value. By ensuring traceability and labeling that complies with market requirements in a maximally automated way, CodeIT can therefore ensure customers get added value," he explains.

- The ability to leverage existing hardware together with leading-edge technology in a comprehensive way gives our customers confidence in their investment and a predictable lifecycle cost. Our 24/7 support allows us to remove uncertainty. Data collected and created through traceability and labeling solutions must be structured and thus have great reuse value. Our software services leverage this to interact and expand the scope of functionality to simplify inventory management, reporting, and monitoring of efficiency, as well as facilitate smart production and packing.
